Last updated: February 21, 2026
1. Agreement to Terms
By accessing or using School Transparency ("the Platform," "the Site") at schooltransparency.com, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the Site. We may update these Terms at any time by posting a revised version. Your continued use after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
2. What This Platform Is
School Transparency is a community-driven information platform that aggregates data about international schools, cities, salaries, cost of living, and teacher experiences. The Platform hosts user-submitted content including school reviews, salary reports, housing information, and local tips.
Important:
The Platform is an information resource, not a professional advisory service. Nothing on this Site constitutes legal, financial, immigration, tax, employment, or career advice. You should consult qualified professionals before making decisions based on information found here.
3. User-Submitted Content
3.1 License Grant
By submitting content (reviews, salary data, housing data, tips, school suggestions), you grant School Transparency a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, display, reproduce, modify (for formatting and presentation purposes), and distribute your submission on the Platform. You retain ownership of your content.
3.2 Your Responsibility
You are solely responsible for the content you submit. You represent and warrant that your submissions are based on your genuine personal experience, are truthful to the best of your knowledge, and do not violate any applicable law or the rights of any third party. You understand that you may be held legally liable for your submissions, including any defamatory, false, or unlawful content.
3.3 Moderation
All submissions are reviewed before publication. We reserve the sole and absolute right to approve, reject, edit (for formatting only), or remove any submission at any time, for any reason, without notice or explanation. Moderation does not constitute endorsement or verification of any submission's accuracy.
4. Prohibited Conduct
You agree not to:
- Submit false, fabricated, or deliberately misleading information.
- Harass, threaten, defame, or doxx any individual, including school staff, teachers, students, or parents.
- Submit confidential or proprietary information belonging to a school, employer, or other organization.
- Post spam, solicitations, advertisements, or commercial promotions.
- Submit content that is discriminatory, hateful, or promotes violence against any group.
- Attempt to manipulate ratings or data by submitting multiple fraudulent entries.
- Use the Platform to scrape data in bulk, build competing products, or for any automated commercial purpose without written permission.
- Interfere with the Platform's operation, security, or infrastructure.
- Impersonate another person or entity.
5. Data Accuracy Disclaimer
School data (names, addresses, curricula, programmes, accreditations, tuition) is compiled from third-party sources including school websites, the International Baccalaureate Organization, and public databases. This data may be inaccurate, incomplete, or outdated. Always verify directly with schools before making enrollment or employment decisions.
Salary data is crowdsourced from anonymous user submissions. Actual compensation varies significantly based on experience, qualifications, location, negotiation, and contract terms. Salary ranges displayed are approximate and historical.
Housing and cost-of-living data is crowdsourced and approximate. Prices fluctuate based on market conditions, location, and timing. Do not rely solely on this data for financial planning.
Reviews and ratings reflect individual user opinions and experiences. They are not verified, endorsed, or guaranteed by School Transparency. A positive or negative review does not constitute our recommendation or warning about any school.
City information (air quality, healthcare, transportation, local tips) is gathered from public APIs, community submissions, and research. Conditions change frequently. Verify current information through official local sources.
6. Third-Party Content and Links
The Platform hosts content submitted by third-party users. We act as a neutral host of this content. In accordance with Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act (47 U.S.C. § 230), we are not the publisher or speaker of user-submitted content. The Platform may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of any external sites.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY. WE EXPRESSLY DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, COMPLETENESS, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE PLATFORM WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS. WE MAKE NO GUARANTEES ABOUT THE ACCURACY OR RELIABILITY OF ANY CONTENT ON THE PLATFORM, WHETHER SUBMITTED BY USERS OR COMPILED FROM THIRD-PARTY SOURCES.
8. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SCHOOL TRANSPARENCY, ITS OPERATORS, CONTRIBUTORS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, OPPORTUNITIES, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE PLATFORM.
OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS RELATED TO THE PLATFORM SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED US DOLLARS (USD $100). THIS LIMITATION APPLIES REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY (CONTRACT, TORT, NEGLIGENCE, STRICT LIABILITY, OR OTHERWISE) AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
9. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless School Transparency, its operators, contributors, and affiliates from and against any and all claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: (a) your use of the Platform; (b) any content you submit; (c) your violation of these Terms; or (d) your violation of any rights of any third party.
10. Content Removal and Disputes
We reserve the right to remove any content at our sole discretion, at any time, without prior notice. If you believe content on the Platform violates these Terms or applicable law, you may report it by emailing us at the address in Section 14.
Schools and institutions may not demand the removal of reviews simply because they are negative. We will review reported content against our Community Guidelines and make a determination at our sole discretion. We are not obligated to remove content based on external requests.
11. Intellectual Property
The Platform's design, code, branding, logos, and original content (excluding user submissions) are the property of School Transparency. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our proprietary content without written permission. User submissions remain the intellectual property of their respective authors, subject to the license granted in Section 3.1.
12. Termination
We may restrict or terminate your ability to submit content if you violate these Terms, repeatedly submit content that violates our Community Guidelines, or engage in conduct that we determine (at our sole discretion) to be harmful to the Platform or its community. Termination does not limit any other rights or remedies available to us.
13. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the Platform shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in a court of competent jurisdiction, at our election.
14. Contact

15. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
